How to make this simple granola recipe

  1. Preheat oven to a low temperature (around 165°C fan).
  2. Line a prepared baking sheet or sheet pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, mix all your dry ingredients together.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients to create a smooth syrup mixture.
  5. Pour the wet mixture over the oat mixture and stir until everything is well coated.
  6. Spread the granola mixture onto the tray in an even layer (this is key for granola clusters).
  7. Press it down slightly to help create larger pieces and clumpy granola.
  8. Bake on medium heat (low and slow) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let the granola cool completely but don’t stir! This is how you get those nutty clusters.
  10. Once cooled granola is ready, break it up and add your favourite mix-ins like dried fruit or chocolate chips.
  11. Store in a airtight jar or Tupperware for up to 2 weeks.

Tips for Perfect Granola

  • Keep the oven at a low temperature for evenly toasted oats
  • Press into a thin layer for crisp edges or a thicker layer for chunkier clusters
  • Don’t stir while baking if you want granola clusters
  • Let it cool at room temperature before breaking it up

How to Serve (My Favourite Ways)

This delicious granola is so versatile, serve:

  • Over Greek yogurt with fresh berries
  • As a yogurt parfait with fresh fruit
  • Sprinkled on smoothie bowls
  • With homemade oat milk for a quick breakfast
  • As a topping for ice cream (so yummy)
  • Pressed into a granola bar for on-the-go snacks

Make it your own with these easy swaps:

  • Swap peanut butter for almond butter
  • Add coconut oil instead of oil for a lighter taste
  • Use brown sugar for a slightly deeper flavour (if not avoiding refined sugar)
  • Add a little bit of citrus zest for a fresh twist
