Easy Valentine’s Rice Krispie Treats

If there’s one perfect way to make something cute, nostalgic, and genuinely delicious for Valentine’s Day, it’s these Valentine’s Rice Krispie Treats.

They’re soft, gooey, and made with a little bit of love (and extra marshmallow, always). No oven and no stress! Just one of those easy treats that works for kids, gifting, bake sales, or last-minute sweet cravings.

These treats are one of my favourite holidays treats because you can dress them up or keep them simple. Think pink candy melts, drizzled milk chocolate, or dipped in white chocolate chips for a bakery-style finish. Honestly? They disappear fast. Trust me, an absolute winner with my kids!

Why You’ll Love These Valentine’s Rice Krispie Treats

  • They are a classic rice krispies treat recipe with a festive twist
  • Made in one large saucepan on medium-low heat
  • No baking required, so ideal for busy days
  • Fun to cut with a heart-shaped cookie cutter
  • Perfect for gifting, parties, or the easy recipes group chat

Also, if you like cake pops or chocolate-covered treats, these hit that same fun, sweet spot but way faster.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 200g marshmallows
  • 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal or any puffed cereal similar
  • White chocolate chips, milk chocolate for topping
  • Valentine’s themed candy (I’ve used smarties mini eggs and m&ms)

Instructions

  1. Line a square tin with parchment paper or wax paper and set aside. I use 9×9.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Once melted add the marshmallows, stirring gently until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and quickly fold in the rice krispies cereal until fully coated. This cereal mixture should look glossy and evenly combined.
  4. Transfer to the prepared tin. Lightly grease your hands or use plastic wrap to gently press the mixture down (don’t compact it too much or you’ll lose that soft texture).
  5. Let cool at room temperature.
  6. Once set, lift out and cut using a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  7. Melt white chocolate or milk chocolate in a small microwavable bowl in burst of 30 seconds.
  8. Dip, drizzle, or decorate with candy melts and sprinkles. Place on parchment paper to set.

Tips for Perfect Rice Krispie Treats

  • Always melt marshmallows on medium-low heat. If it is too hot and they turn chewy
  • Adding an extra marshmallows keeps them softer
  • For clean cuts, lightly grease your cookie cutter
  • Let chocolate set fully before packaging or stacking
