I remember making peppermint creams at a holiday club when I was about 10, so for me they are so nostalgic! But also, easy to make, and ideal for gifting.

With only a few simple ingredients and no baking required, these make a delicious edible gift for any lucky family member.

Why You’ll Love This Peppermint Creams

  • Easy and fun! Just mix, shape, and dip in melted chocolate.
  • Perfect for gifting. Wrap in cellophane bags or tins as sweet edible gifts.
  • No-bake recipe!
  • Festive and cute and decorated with holly-shaped Christmas sprinkles, they look like mini Christmas puddings.
  • Family-friendly, they are great for young children to help with rolling and decorating.

Ingredients

  • 230g icing sugar (powdered sugar)
  • 1 egg white
  • A few drops of peppermint extract
  • 100g dark chocolate for dipping
  • Holly sprinkles or green food colouring (optional for decoration)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, sift the icing sugar into the bowl.
  2. Add the egg white along with a few drops of peppermint extract
  3. Stir with a wooden spoon until a soft dough starts to form.
If it’s too dry, add a little water; if too sticky, add a bit more icing sugar.
  4. Dust a clean dry surface or large chopping board with icing sugar.
  5. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin to about 1cm thick.
  6. Use a small round cookie cutter (or any festive shapes eg. christmas trees or stars) to cut as many shapes as you can. If you have nothing to cut the dough with, make around 20 small balls with your hands and flatten.
  7. Place the shapes on a baking tray lined with baking paper or a lined chopping board.
  8. Cover lightly with cling film and chill in the fridge for 1 hour until firm.
  9. Melt the dark chocolate in a small heat-proof bowl set over a small saucepan of hot water (or microwave in 20 second intervals).
  10. Dip each peppermint cream halfway into the deeper pool of chocolate, letting any excess drip off.
  11. Place them back on the baking paper and add a few holly sprinkles or a drizzle of green food colouring to finish.
  12. Chill again for 30–60 minutes until set.

Store or Gift

Once set, transfer to an airtight container and store in a cool place (preferably overnight before gifting). They’ll keep for up to 1 week in a cool dry place or in the fridge if you like them cold.

Wrap them in cellophane bags or small boxes for a beautiful edible gift. Add a label or tag, and you’ve got a homemade present that’s guaranteed to impress.
